How Can I Become a Member of Bainbridge FUMC?

While we are excited about every person who finds their church “home” at BFUMC and is being discipled here, we hope each one will consider becoming a “professing” (what we used to call “full”) member of the church. Certainly we can use each person’s gifts and grace whether or not he or she is a “member” of the church—but membership indicates a commitment to the work of the church and opens up leadership possibilities for those who join.

How can you become a “professing” member of BFUMC? There are several ways:

By profession of faith: If you have never made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, you are invited to make that profession publicly, receive the Sacrament of Baptism (if you have not been baptized previously), and take the vows of membership, pledging to uphold the church by your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
By certificate of transfer: If you are a member of another United Methodist congregation, we will (upon your request) send for a certificate of transfer from that congregation to this one.
From another Christian tradition: If you are a member of another Christian congregation, we accept your profession of faith and baptism as valid, and you will be invited to take the membership vows to uphold the church by your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
