Family Ministries
Adult Fellowship Groups
Each Fellowship Group consists of 8 to 10 members and meet once a month for food and fellowship. This has proven to be an excellent way to connect with members of our church family in a small group setting and build friendships while having fun around the table. You can sign up by contacting Lynn Walker or the Church Office.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Ash Wednesday Service 2020Tuesday, February 25, 2020
6:00 p.m. Our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper was held on Tuesday, February 25, at 6:00 p.m. Shrove Tuesday or “Fat Tuesday” is celebrated on the day before Ash Wednesday. Originally, the day was an opportunity to rid the home of all fats, sugar, and rich foods before the season of Lenten fasting begins. Pancakes are the perfect food to combine all of those ingredients. If you are willing to help out with the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, contact Elizabeth Simmons or the Church Office. Another part of the Shrove Tuesday celebration is the burning of the palm branches that were carried triumphantly into the sanctuary last Palm Sunday. These palms become the ashes that mark our heads on Ash Wednesday. The Ash Wednesday service was held at 6:45 pm in the sanctuary following our regular Christian Fellowship Dinner. |

Cornbread and Caroling 2019
Wednesday, December 19, 2019
6:00 p.m.
Our “Cornbread and Caroling” will be Wednesday, December 19. We will gather to eat chili and our signature “Cornbread” beginning at 6:00 p.m. Around 6:30 p.m. we will leave for caroling from the J. O. Smith Building, and we have wagons available for those braving the chill. The van will also be going for those who wish to participate but want to do so in comfort. We will go caroling to those in our church family who have a harder time getting out to enjoy the holiday festivities. Then we will come back to the J. O. Smith Building to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies. Come enjoy this traditional Christmas activity!

Come to Christmas 2019
Sunday, December 8, 2019
5:30 p.m. Sunday, December 8, is an opportunity to prepare for the coming of Christ with your church family in a different way. First UMC has been celebrating “Come to Christmas” for more than thirty years. This night is an evening of fun, fellowship, and crafts for all generations together. The activities begin at 5:30 p.m. We will eat soup and sandwiches just after 6:00 p.m. The young and young at heart are invited to take pictures with Santa in the Simmons’ Parlor. The Secret Santa workshop allows children to make gifts to surprise their family. Come for the food. Come for the crafts. Come for the fellowship. Come just to watch the joy of the season in action. Come! Come to Christmas! |

We set up in the Adult Sunday School Building parking lot and the lot outside the J. O. Smith building. The Trick-or-Treating ran from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. with our Christian Fellowship Dinner following at 6:30 p.m. Everyone has a lot of fun!! |
